#108 Drifting Together

The lights from the the market glittered on the river. Couples lined the bridge, swept up with the beauty of the water and the warmth of an Italian summer night. We were one of them. As we looked at each other, everyone else seemed to be washed away with the movement of pedestrians and the flow of the river. It was a scene that must have looked like the most lazy of cliches come to life, but that made it no less beautiful.

We took a photo of the two of us. It’s grainy and poorly exposed, but perfect nonetheless. It shows our happiness, it shows our hearts.

Slowly the world around us came back into focus and we were swept up on the tide of tourists crossing the bridge. We let ourselves be carried off, drifting together into the night.
